Hub City entrepreneurs prepare for Small Business Saturday

JACKSON, Tenn. — Over 30 vendors will be present at one local event that guarantees to give you great deals and community spirit.

Small Business Saturday is a nationally known event used to celebrate local entrepreneurs as well as remind residents of the community to shop local. The director for Downtown Jackson Development Corporation said that some things to be expected are pop up vendors and food. She also told us that most people have been into online shopping lately, but shopping online takes away from the growth of local businesses.

“It’s so important to support our small businesses. They’re what hold up our local economy. If you are shopping, I would encourage you to think about the purchases you’re making, I hope you will choose to shop local and shop small,” said Beth Ann Simpson, director for Downtown Jackson Development.

The event will happen on November 30 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Simpson said the hub of the event would be at theLOCAL located on 202 W Lafayette Street.

“Businesses will have different deals going on and promotions and we’ll be sharing about that. Then, downtown Jackson will be set up at theLOCAL,” said Simpson.

You can also stop by JDDC’s table for your downtown merch pick up and receive shop small stickers for purchases made at theLOCAL.

“You’ll get an extra stamp on your passport that counts as double, so there will be some extra incentives that day to encourage people to shop on November 30 for our small business Saturday,” said Simpson.

Simpson also said that local businesses are what help create the fun and exciting entertainment that we have in downtown and across Jackson.
