Thanksgiving in West Tennessee: 2024 Events and Resources

JACKSON, Tenn. — With Thanksgiving less than two weeks away, we’ve cooked up a list of events, activities and resources for the holiday.

Starting off, you may be thinking of skipping out on making or attending a traditional dinner this year. If so, check out Visit Jackson, TN’s list of restaurants open on Thanksgiving Day.

Additionally, several Tennessee State Parks will be offering Thanksgiving meals, including Natchez Trace State Park, Pickwick Landing State Park, and Paris Landing State Park. See below for details.

When it comes to securing a good meal, you may be looking for some assistance this year. Several groups will be hosting free Thanksgiving meals locally at the following times and locations:

• Brownsville Family Restaurant’s 10th Annual Free Thanksgiving Lunch

• Knee Temple Church 100 Meal Giveaway

• Nana’s Taste and See Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner
  • November 28, 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

With much to be thankful for, you may be interested in helping out those in need. There are a few donation/volunteer opportunities you may want to get involved in.

• RIFA’s Hunger Free Holidays
  • RIFA is currently taking donations to help make their 2024 Hunger Free Holidays event possible. See link above for details.
• Gibson County Office on Aging’s Project Care
  • Currently seeking volunteers to help make their annual Project Care meal distribution possible. See link above for details.

Finally, you may be looking for a fun activity to walk off that large meal, or a special experience to share with friends and family. There are a few events to help celebrate the holiday.
