Board of Education confirms teachers’ suspension after sexual battery charges surface
UPDATE (11/26/24): Suspended teacher was reinstated to school days before arrest
BOLIVAR, Tenn. — A teacher in one local community is arrested on multiple charges.
One teacher is being held on nine different charges at the Hardeman County Jail.
44-year-old Jason Childers is arrested for charges including sexual battery by an authority figure. According to records available online, Childers was taken into custody at the Hardeman County jail Monday morning. According to the school’s website, Childers is a teacher at Middleton High School in Hardeman County.
Their board of education confirmed that they’re aware of the charges regarding Childers and they’re further investigating the case as they take their next steps.
“As the situation progresses, decisions will be made based on facts that emerge. The teacher has been suspended pursuant to board policy 5.201. The district remains committed to ensuring the safety and well being of all staff and students.”
The Moblie Patrol app lists a number of charges Childers is facing, ranging from aggravated sexual battery, 4 counts of assault, 2 counts of sexual battery by authority figure, simple possession and tampering with or fabricating evidence.
At the time of this report, Childers remains in custody at the Hardeman County Criminal Justice Complex.
