Jackson State holds groundbreaking ceremony for new Regional Workforce Training Center

JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson State Community College held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday afternoon for the future home of its multimillion dollar Regional Workforce Training Center.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on the northwest corner of the campus. A reception followed in the lobby of the Ned R. McWherter building where renderings of the training center, blueprints, and the project team were available.

“Jackson has grown rapidly before, back in the 90s. Now we’ve hit that level again. The future’s even brighter. But to keep up with that and to reach our maximum potential, we have to have facilities like this to train a workforce. I mean it’s training the workforce of the future,” said Kyle Spurgeon, president and CEO of the Greater Jackson Chamber.

Preparation and construction of the facility will take place in the early spring. The site was strategically selected to create a powerful impression at the corner of Dr. F.E. Wright Drive and North Parkway for those both attending and visiting the college.
