‘Christmas in the Park’ benefit coming to Selmer this weekend

SELMER, Tenn. — An upcoming event is set to create lasting memories for you and your family.

It’s an event that benefits local families who are dealing with crises and cannot afford Christmas this year.

They say Christmas is better in a small town. Well come find out! Happening this weekend in Selmer at Selmer City Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. is Christmas in the Park.

It is an event organized by the Chris River Foundation along with Blessed Woodworks Incorporated.

“We have a hot chocolate bar, we have Mr. and Mrs. Claus coming to do pictures. All of that is free of charge. We have the Clydesdale carriage rides coming as well. That’s also free to the public,” said Christopher Stacks, with the Chris River Foundation.

Although the event itself and many of these activities are free. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Chris Rivers Foundation, who will purchase and hand deliver gifts to more than 100 local families this year.

“The need is out there and it’s growing at a necessity, and I have some good friends who back me up,” said Stacks.

There will be a variety of craft and food vendors, plus a DJ and live entertainment on the stage throughout the day. Organizers are also asking for new, unwrapped gifts. Just bring the items with you to the event and they will be placed under the tree for families in need. For those who wish to donate monetary gifts, click here.
