RIFA Hunger Free Holiday event returns
JACKSON, Tenn.—-One local organization hosts its annual food drive.
Regional Inter-Faith Association set up Saturday at the Kroger located on West University Parkway in Jackson for its Hunger Free Holiday event.
The fundraiser began at 9 in the morning and continued until 3:30 in the afternoon.
The annual event gathers food items to provide traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas meals to families in need throughout the community.
Some of the items collected include holiday favorites like canned ham or turkey, vegetables, boxed stuffing, potatoes and brownie mixes. RIFA also accepts monetary donations to benefit the cause.
“The purpose of the food drive today is to ensure that our friends who are struggling with food insecurity get to enjoy the same traditional holiday meal that you and I will have. The items are on the list for folks to shop for as they come into the store. We have some awesome volunteers today who are handing out that list and welcoming shoppers,” said Denice Walton, Director of Development at RIFA.
This was the second year for the event.
