Discovery Park of America responds to disturbing letter to Santa found
UNION CITY, Tenn. — A leader with the Discovery Park of America speaks out amid controversy regarding Santa letters.
The Discovery Park has a table with crayons and pieces of paper for children to send letters to Santa this year. Concerns arose after patrons discovered offensive racial responses on letters that were not authorized to be hung up above their holiday decorations.
The letter to Santa question asks “All I want for Christmas is ‘blank’?” to provoke a reaction from children for their gift wish list.
According to the CEO Scott Williams, he assures us this incident was not caused by any park employees and it’s always their goal to strive to keep an inclusive and welcoming environment for all guests who visit.
“Discovery Park of America’s mission is to inspire children and adults to see beyond, and of course, that goes for every child of any race. We don’t exactly know how old they were but they wrote the word ‘slave’ on there. We take things like this very seriously and immediately trashed it,” said Williams.
The park is taking proactive prevention measures to make sure this doesn’t happen again.
