Judy Kay Liggett McCord Newman, age 81, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Born on July 22, 1943, in Jackson, Tennessee, Judy lived a life marked by love, resilience, and dedication to her family and community. Judy had a successful career as a retail manager and later as a trusted tax preparer, where her keen attention to detail and warm personality endeared her to colleagues and clients alike. Beyond her professional endeavors, Judy was known for her boundless love for her family and friends, her faith, and her commitment to helping others.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Newman; her parents, Arthur Dewitt Liggett and Nina Marie Yarbro Liggett; and her brother, Don Liggett.

Judy leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her children, Richard McCord, Melissa McCord, Anthony McCord (Jennifer), James Michael McCord (Carrie), and Teresa Heidelberg; and her grandchildren, Anthony McCord Jr., Jacob McCord, Kolby McCord, Elijah McCord, Benjamin McCord, Emilee McCord, Brittany McCord, Ciara Caddin, Madison McHaney, Dustin Cupples, Devin Black, Claire McCord, Mason McCord, Jessica Jenkins, Coty Heidelberg, and Noah Heidelberg. Judy was also blessed with 25 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her dear sister, Nina Blazer (Danny), as well as nieces and nephews Vince Bourne, Tracy Liggett, and Jennifer Kurkowski.

Judy’s legacy is one of kindness, strength, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A service to celebrate Judy’s beautiful life will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024 at 12:00 pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with burial following in Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m., two hours prior to the service.

Pallbearers to serve will be Richard McCord, Tony McCord, Mike McCord, Noah Heidelberg, Coty Heidelberg, and Vince Bourne.
