Shoppers carry on Black Friday tradition, finding deals and time together
JACKSON, Tenn. — Shoppers were getting an early start on the Black Friday deals at The Columns in north Jackson.
Some told us they kicked things off as early as 5 a.m.
“We are just getting going, but it’s going to be good, because Kohl’s always has some bargains,” one shopper said.
Many stores opened early Friday morning, unlike in previous years where some opened their doors at midnight after Thanksgiving.
“Kind of takes the fun away from it, but, it’s still fun,” another shopper told us.
Nevertheless, deal seekers in the Hub City were on a mission to find the perfect holiday gifts.
“Stuff for the kids.”
“Cute sweaters ’cause it’s chilly out here and you’ve got to dress cute for the winter.”
By 8 a.m., shoppers were on to the next store, but pleased with what was found so far.
“But there’s a lot of good stuff, we got a lot of toys, clothes, jewelry.”
Bargains are the main reason some come out for the most popular shopping day of the holiday season. For others, it’s more than that.
“This is our tradition.”
This year, holiday spending is expected to hit a record of nearly $1 trillion.
