Fire destroys home, animal rescue in Chester Co.

CHESTER CO., Tenn.—Emergency crews were dispatched to a call of a house fire late Friday night in a rural area in Chester county.

We first heard about it thanks to several of our WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News tipsters.

When our crew arrived, they found firefighters on the scene and the house heavily damaged.

The home, owned by Ron Preuss, also served as the location for Loving Paws Animal Rescue.

He says he was able to escape the fire and get some of the dogs out of the house.

Now he’s faced with the heartbreak of losing everything he has.

“This isn’t something that’s just, is a little inconvenient. I got to figure out how to sleep in my car tonight with no keys, with all these dogs, and then wake up and try to figure out with a smile on my face and God in my heart, to figure out how to try to keep going forward,” Preuss said.

There’s no immediate word on how the fire started.

Chester Co. Fire Department officials say the fire remains under investigation at this time.
