Rain, Storms Coming Sunday, Warmer Temperatures Next Week
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
After several days of below average and freezing temperatures here in West Tennessee, a lifting low pressure system is bringing some much needed changes to the forecast here. We have the details right here.
Today:
Temperatures will climb into the low 50s across much of the region. Skies will remain clear and sunny until the overnight hours. Lows tonight will be in the upper 30s, so frost won’t be an issue tomorrow morning. Cloud cover will begin to move into the area after midnight ahead of some heavy rain and possible storms on Sunday.
Sunday:
Showers could make their way into West Tennessee as early as 1:00 AM along the Mississippi River. Expect three rounds of rain: a very early morning round from 1 AM-5 AM, a round of heavier rain around 10:30 AM-2:30 PM, and the most intense rain will begin to move into the area after 5 PM and intensify as it moves to the east. Total accumulation should be around 1-2 inches, with a chance of higher amounts from localized heavy downpours.
Monday:
The warmest day of the event thus far will be Monday. Highs will climb into the 60s with a chance for some lingering showers from Sunday’s system. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy with a breeze out of the south. As we get into Monday night, temperatures will only fall into the 40s.
Tuesday Onward:
Tuesday brings our return to a chance of freezing temperatures overnight. After Tuesday, highs will be in the low to mid 50s, with lows in the 30s, some of which could be low enough to freeze. We’ll keep you updated on the temperature trends so you are best able to protect the 4 Ps: People, Pets, Plants, and Pipes.
Final Thoughts:
Enjoy these warmer temperatures! The forecast may not allow for outdoor activities, but you may get a much needed break from any problems the intense cold period may have brought on. PLEASE NOTE: We will not have a 6:00 PM show tonight (Sat. 12/7) due to several college football conference championship games today. We will see you on-air tonight after the games.
