Firefighters save business after fire breaks out at mill

FROM THE HENDERSON COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT:

Saturday afternoon, Henderson County Fire Department Stations 5, 7, 9, and Tanker 30 from Scotts Hill responded to a fire at Ace Wood Pellet Mill on Chatham Ln in the Reagan Community.

Engine 9 was first to arrive and reported a portion of the mill engulfed in flames.

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire that consumed a storage shed adjacent to and as a part of the mill.

It was determined the fire started from a barrel located next to the shed that was used by employees as a wood burning heater.

The heater was last used on Friday but still contained hot smoldering embers.

Although the shed along with some contents used for packaging was lost from the fire, a quick and aggressive attack on the fire by firefighters resulted in the adjacent mill being saved.
