Community pays honor to fallen officer with ‘Sea of Blue’ processional
SELMER, Tenn.–A community comes together to pay their respects to a fallen officer…recently killed in the line of duty..
The McNairy County Community paused to honor deputy sheriff Sgt. Rick Finley with a ‘Sea of Blue’ event this evening in Selmer.
The procession made its way along the streets and highways as local and state law enforcement, fire fighters, EMTs and other agencies joined the procession.
The public lined the sides of the roadways…to witness the somber event honoring Sgt. Finley. He worked for both the McNairy County Sheriff’s Department and the Selmer Police Department.
Finley was shot on December 14 while responding with Selmer Police to a report of a suspicious person outside of a home in Selmer.
Police say Daniel Jeremiah Holmes, 39 fired several shots at Officer Finley, striking and killing him.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is working on this case at this time.
