First responders read Christmas story, give gifts to students at Parsons Elementary

PARSONS, Tenn. — Local first responders pay a visit to one local elementary school.

The Parsons Police and Fire Department visited Parsons Elementary School to hand out gift bags. Inside of the gift bags were stickers of badges, candy, and a coloring sheet.

Students were taught the importance of fire safety and and read the Polar Express by current officers.

Chief Wes Woodward shares this is something that they hope to do regularly.

“What today is all about is making an impact with our children to reinforce that the police department is here for them,” said Chief Woodward.

Chief Woodward also shared that for years the fire department has invited pre-k students to tour the station and learn about fire safety.
