STAR Center introduces ‘Little Free Library’ to promote local literacy
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE STAR CENTER OF JACKSON:
Jackson, TN – The STAR Center is thrilled to announce the addition of a Little Free Library to its Jackson location!
The charming library was lovingly built by Norman Barton, affectionately known as Grandpa Norm, the grandfather of our music therapist, Gab Barton.
More than 30 million adults in the United States struggle to read above a third-grade level. Access to books is one of the strongest predictors of academic success, yet many communities lack this crucial resource. The new library aims to bridge this gap by providing free books to everyone.
“We are excited to offer this new resource to our community,” said Jennifer Graves, President of the Star Center, “Our Little Free Library is more than just a box of books; it’s a symbol of community, learning, and the shared joy of reading. We invite everyone to come by, take a book, leave a book, and help us create a vibrant, book-loving community.”
The STAR Center encourages community members to donate books to keep the library stocked and diverse. Donations can be brought to the front desk at The STAR Center. Together, we can fill our Little Free Library with stories, knowledge, and imagination, and help spread the joy of reading to all.
