Volvo Penta’s Helping Hands donates $20k to support local agencies
PRESS RELEASE FROM THE HENDERSON COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE:
Volvo Penta’s Helping Hands Donates $20,000 to Support Local Agencies
Lexington, TN – December 27, 2024 – The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the incredible generosity of Volvo Penta’s Helping Hands, a committee of dedicated employees who recently donated $20,000 to five local 501(c)(3) organizations. These contributions highlight the power of community and the commitment to making a positive impact in Henderson County.
Helping Hands organizes creative fundraising activities throughout the year, including Valentine’s Day and Easter gift basket auctions and a charity golf tournament. Thanks to their hard work, funds raised from these events have grown significantly, allowing the committee to expand their outreach and support for local organizations.
In August, Helping Hands partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to connect with 501(c)(3) representatives. Interested organizations submitted grant applications detailing their funding needs and intended use. A review committee, including Helping Hands members Andrew Hayes and Carol Holmes, along with Volvo Penta management, thoughtfully evaluated the applications and selected the recipients.
Last week, five deserving organizations were awarded donations:
- Tyler Spann Water Safety Project – $10,000
- TAG (Housing Authority) – $1,000
- Francis Hensley Animal Shelter – $2,000
- First United Methodist Church Food Pantry – $3,500
- Henderson County Homeless Coalition – $3,500
“These organizations do amazing work in our community, and we are honored to support their efforts,” said Tonya Womack, Director People & Culture at Volvo Penta. “We hope this inspires other businesses & industry in Lexington and beyond to give back and invest in the organizations that make our community stronger.”
The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce applauds Volvo Penta and its employees for their dedication and leadership. This initiative showcases how local businesses can make a lasting difference.
