Volunteers search West TN for missing Alabama man
UPDATE (1/15/25): Reward for missing man Ronald Dumas Jr. increased to $10k
DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn.—A team of volunteers met Sunday in West TN to search for a missing Alabama man, 37-year-old, Ronald Dumas, Jr.
Dumas, a realtor from Huntsville and father of 3 children, went missing around two weeks ago.
Contact was last made with Ronald by phone on December 15 in a conversation with his ex-wife. She says he didn’t sound like he was in danger.
However, Dumas’ vehicle was found by the Tennessee Highway Patrol on December 16, unoccupied on I-40 near MM 133, just right outside the Camden area.
Huntsville Police connected the description of the car to that of Dumas’. And while their department does not suspect anything unusual, the family is not convinced.
This inspired a team made up of family members, friends, and volunteers to come to West TN and search for Dumas. Teams spread out across counties throughout the area including Haywood, Decatur, and Benton Counties.
Volunteers searched in groups, taking turns and switching out members throughout the day.
Some searched in the area of Exit 133 near Birdsong, while others searched where Dumas’s phone last pinged.
“We’re looking for anything that we know he might have been wearing, a watch, a phone, anything that might give a clue as to whether he was here,” said Leah Lindsay, Team Search Leader for Team B.
During the search, a cellphone was found, it is unknown at this time if it belonged to Dumas.
The family is asking the public to continue to keep an eye out for Ronald.
He is an African American male, 5 ‘5 ” and weighs approx. 165 lbs.
While it is unknown exactly what he was wearing at the time of his disappearance, he was last seen wearing a dark blue/black sweater, black polo boots, and a pea-coat type trench-coat.
