John Thorne
John Alan Thorne, age 66, resident of Memphis, Tennessee and husband of Lisa Thorne, departed this life Sunday evening, December 22, 2024 at Methodist North Hospital in Memphis.
John was born November 4, 1958 in Bruceton, Tennessee, the son of the late Ralph Ernest Thorne, Sr. and Evelyn Gracie Sawyer Thorne. He graduated from Central High School in Bruceton in 1976 then continued his education at Union University and graduated from Memphis State University with a major in business.
Mr. Thorne was married September 2, 1978 to Lisa Hartness Thorne and was a member of Unity Baptist Church. He was self-employed as a real estate broker, investor and business owner for 25 years and loved his garden, chickens and his beloved dog, Reecie.
Mr. Thorne is survived by his wife, Lisa Thorne; his daughter, Casey Thorne of Nashville, TN; two sons, Justin Thorne (Rebeca) of Bartlett, TN and Ryan Thorne (Beth) of Bartlett, TN; five sisters, Ruth Anne Dame (Philip) of Chaffee, MO, Kay Huddleston of Centerton, AR, Joyce Wood of Memphis, TN, Linda Rose of Bartlett, TN and Ida Edwards (Joel) of Bruceton, TN; two brothers, Wayne Thorne (Barbara) of Greenbrier, AR and Ken Thorne (Lori) of Milan, TN; his sister-in-law, Barbara Thorne of Collierville, TN; six grandchildren, Isabella Thorne, Emerson Thorne, Johnathan Thorne (Adina), Chloe Thorne, Daniel Carrillo (Hannah) and Ariana Carrillo; and his great-granddaughter, Evanna Thorne-Garay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Grooms and his brother, Ernest Thorne, Jr.
A visitation for Mr. Thorne will be from 10 A.M. to 12 noon Friday, January 3, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Funeral Services will be at 12 noon Friday, January 3, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Louis Brenton of Unity Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Justin Thorne, Ryan Thorne, Ken Thorne, Charles Hartness, Johnathan Thorne, Nathan Yeager, Caleb Thorne, Bryan Thorne, Barton Thorne and Jacob Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Thorne, Joel Edwards and Ronnie Sessum.
