Multiple law enforcement agencies to offer free rides on New Year’s Eve
GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Multiple law enforcement agencies are offering free rides this New Year’s Eve for those that need a safe way to get home.
Gibson County Sheriff’s Office is one of those agencies asking residents to use their free service to get home safely if they have had too much to drink on New Year’s Eve. The annual service has been provided for the past 10 years to help prevent motor vehicle accidents and DUIs. Officials said they were not trying do discourage anyone from celebrating the new year. They’re just wanting to make sure everyone makes it home safely following the celebrations.
The free ride service is also being provided by Henderson and Decatur Counties and the city of Martin. If you are not a resident in either of these areas, AAA will assist members and non-members in getting home safely as well.
Martin Police Department will have a safety bus that will make scheduled stops all night at the local taverns. It will run from 7pm to 3:30 am. For all residents within Martin city limits that are celebrating the holidays and need a ride, call (731) 587-5355.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office will be initiating a service for New Years called Operation Saferide. Operation Safe Ride will provide citizens a free and sober ride home starting at 10pm on Tuesday, December 31st until 5am on Wednesday, January 1st, 2025. Anyone who needs a safe and sober ride home on New Year’s Eve please contact Decatur County Dispatch at 731-852-3911 and a Decatur County Sheriff’s Office Deputy will assist in getting you home safe.
Henderson County Sheriff’s Office will be offering free rides on New Year’s Eve to its citizens. For a ride on New Year’s Eve, call 968-2407. This service will run from 6pm to 6am. Gibson County Sheriff’s Office will be offering a free ride to its residents who are celebrating the holidays. Call (731) 692- 3714 on New Years Eve, and a deputy will assist you home, no questions asked. Gibson County has been offering this service for the past 10 years.
AAA Auto Club is offering their “Tow To Go” program to all members and non-members. Instead of driving impaired, AAA will send a truck to take you and your vehicle home safely. The program will continue to run through 6 a.m. on Thursday, January 2. Those needing to use the service can call (855) 286-9246.
