Rhodes Family Diner continues New Year meal tradition

MEDINA, Tenn. — As another year comes to a close, a local diner spreads good fortune with a special New Year’s Day meal.

Rhodes Family Diner in Medina hosted its annual New Year’s buffet for the community.

Their menu was designed to spread good luck and prosperity for 2025.

It consisted of black eye peas, which symbolize wealth, greens and boiled cabbage, which symbolizes money, and many more offerings.

Rhodes even had a few selections for people who don’t typically enjoy traditional holiday meals.

“Well it’s our community that makes it special,” said owner Sam Rhodes. “They come in; they have a blast. Every year we see people bringing other people and recommending.”

“This meal sets it off right for the entire year, because if you eat a meal like we had today, that ensures us that we will have good luck all year long,” said customer William Frank Arnold.

This event continues to bring the Medina community together to celebrate the start of a new year.
