Early Week Melting Snow, Mid Weak Front, Late Week Rain, Weekend Arctic Blast!

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

Temperatures are going to drop to 20-25° below normal it looks like for the start of NEXT week. That means highs will probably only be in the 20s for the beginning of next week. Lows will likely falls into the teens and some single digits will also be possible. I am not seeing anything suggesting below zero temperatures for us but it will be the coldest weather so far this winter as 16° is the coldest so far in Jackson this winter. As of now, there are NO thoughts on a big snowstorm heading into West Tennessee. That being said, being that cold, if we get any precipitation during that time, it will be frozen, so we are keeping an eye on the forecast as the weekend progresses.

Temperatures will fall down to around 20° tonight across West Tennessee but warm back up to the upper 40s on Tuesday melting any snow that is left. The next front, a weak one, will pass by Tuesday night. There is a late week round of showers coming back and an arctic blast on the way late into the weekend and into next week. But does that mean more snow is on the way? Catch the latest for details right here!

THIS WEEK:

With the clear skies and calm winds it is going to be a chilly night tonight across West Tennessee. Overnight lows will fall down to around 20°. We are not expecting much for slick spots tonight as most of the snow has melted and dried off, but there still could be some ice over a bridge or two so be careful still traveling overnight into Tuesday morning. Any snow that is left on the ground will melt on Tuesday as highs will reach up into the upper 40s on Tuesday. Expect sunny skies on Tuesday with a light breeze out of the west. Tuesday night lows will fall down into the mid 20s but the wind chill will be in the teens Wednesday morning as the weak front slides through.

The next front will come by Tuesday night into Wednesday morning but it looks like a dry front. There will be some clouds that move in Tuesday night into Wednesday morning but we should see the sun come back out by Wednesday afternoon. The front looks like a dry front but will change the winds from the west to the north into the day on Wednesday. Wednesday highs will be a tad cool and be below normal. In the afternoon we should only hit the low 40s and will drop back down to the mid 20s again Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

As the day goes on Thursday, the winds will shift back to the west early in the day and back to the southwest by Thursday evening. This will allow temperatures to warm back up a bit on Thursday. Highs on Thursday will make it up to around 50°. Expect a mostly sunny day on Thursday and Thursday night lows will only fall down to the mid 30s. We will continue our warm up on Friday with highs reaching the mid to upper 50s. The reason we will be warmer on Friday will be from an increase in moisture from the southerly winds tapping into the warmer gulf air. Friday night lows will fall down to the mid 40s.

The next shot for rain will also be coming by late in day on Friday and lasting into Saturday morning. It just looks like a cold rain as of now but a very weak storm or two cannot be ruled out. The system will NOT be bringing any snow or severe weather it looks like to West Tennessee. There will be mostly cloudy skies by Friday afternoon and the clouds will be sticking around into the start of the weekend. Expect about 1/4″-1/2″ of rain as of now.

THE WEEKEND:

The weekend will start out wet across West Tennessee for Saturday morning. As the day goes on, the rain will clear out but the clouds will be sticking around for most of the day. Highs on Saturday will be a little cooler and reach the low 50s. The first front to pass this weekend will come out of the west but the next front coming late Saturday into Sunday morning is coming in from the north and will bring some arctic air back to the Mid South. Saturday night will fall down to around 30° but Sunday highs will only reach the mid 30s.

As the weekend goes on, temperatures will continue to drop and we are looking at a very cold start to next week. Sunday night lows will fall into the upper teens and highs will only reach the mid 20s for next week. There is a chance for some snow showers to develop across portions of the Mid South early next week as well but right now, it is too early to determine who is most likely to see the snow chances. There is also a chance the low pressure system misses us completely so stay with WBBJ this week as we will continue to track any potential winter type precipitation that could be on the way as we get going into next week.
