4 local charities awarded during check presentation
JACKSON, Tenn. — Local charities and nonprofits were honored with special gifts.
Earlier Tuesday, Madison County Parks Department held a check presentation for the charities that participated in the 2024 Festival of Lights.
Four charities were presented with checks from the conservation board totaling more than $5,000 raised over a four week period along with hundred of pounds of canned goods for RIFA.
“It raised more money then we thought. We’d projected and we topped out a little over $11,000 for charity and over 900 pounds of canned goods for RIFA. So it was a bigger success then I could have even planned,” said Matthew Martin, executive director for Jackson Parks and Rec.
The four charities and nonprofits awarded were as follows:
- East Madison Senior Center
- West Madison Senior Center
- Jackson Equity Project
- Mona Lisa School of Dance
This was the department’s first year holding the event and they plan to continue, with different charities being selected each year.
