Leading up to the NFL Super Bowl on February 9, local businesses, churches, schools, organizations and individuals are invited to collect monetary donations. Donations will be used by RIFA to support those in our community who battle hunger.

Souper Bowl of Caring was started in 1990 in South Carolina Church when the youth group gathered to have a big meal.

“One of the kids was called on to pray and his prayer was ‘Lord, bless those who don’t even have as much as a bowl of soup to eat today’ and I think it just sparked that awareness of hunger in those around us who don’t have enough to eat,” said Denice Walton, director of development for RIFA.

That birthed a nonprofit, Tackle Hunger, that has raised nearly $200 million in dollars and food nationwide in its 34 years.
