Brutal Cold Again Monday And Tuesday Night, Warmer Temps In Sight
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
After a night of apparent temperatures near to below zero degrees, we still have more bitterly cold weather in store for the next couple nights here in West Tennessee. There is an end in sight as Wednesday we will be back in the upper 30s and we have some rain in the forecast over the weekend. We have all the details right here.
Cold Nights (Mon.-Tue.):
Daytime highs will struggle to move through the 20s thanks to a series of weak fronts that have been moving through. With another weak front forecast to move through West Tennessee overnight Monday, Tuesday will likely feel as cold as Sunday did. Here are some tips you can use to protect yourself and your property against the extreme cold.
At 0 degrees, frostbite can set in as quickly as 30 minutes.
Warming Trend (Wed.-Fri.):
Temperatures will crest above 30 degrees for the first time this week on Wednesday. With a return to southerly flow, we will see an increase in moisture available and temperatures will climb as high as the mid 40s on Friday. You may remember a viral picture of a model run bringing absurd amounts of winter weather to West Tennessee on Thursday. Fortunately for all of us, that system is no longer appearing in any of our models.
Next System (Sat. PM-Sun. AM)
Rain returns to the forecast for West Tennessee with a chance of rain Saturday night into Sunday. As of right now it appears to only be a mild rain. There are no storms in the forecast at this time, but with temperatures getting into the 50s, a rumble of thunder or two cannot be ruled out at this time.
Final Thoughts:
Make sure you are taking proper care to ensure the safety of yourself, your people, your pipes, your pets, and plants if you have them. This cold snap will be ending here very soon, but until then stay weather aware with us, and we will keep you updated.
