RIFA presented with over $15,000 check to aid in fight against hunger
JACKSON, Tenn. — An important check presentation took place Tuesday morning.
Hosted at Gold’s Gym, the Turkey Day 5K Check Presentation gifted more than $15,000 to Jackson’s Regional Inter-Faith Association. Sponsored by Gold’s Gym and Fleet Feet, the Turkey Day 5K takes place every Thanksgiving with runners gathering from across West Tennessee to fundraise.
This past Thanksgiving, more than 700 runners showed up to support the cause. Money raised helps feed those in West Tennessee struggling with food insecurity.
“One thing about hunger is it doesn’t take a holiday. It’s with us every single day throughout the year and so, constantly, we are looking to our community to come alongside us and partner with us as we feed our friends and neighbors here where we live, where we work, and where we worship,” said Denice Walton, director of development for RIFA.
RIFA has been a part of the Jackson community since 1976.
