Haywood Co. Budget Committee meets following approval for new high school

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — One county is discussing their plans for a new high school.

Earlier Wednesday, leaders in Haywood County held a budget committee meeting following the announcement of a new high school being approved. The meeting consisted of topics such as financing a new school, land purchase and county debt.

The county is waiting on a contingency contract with the county attorney and the school board so they can proceed to buy land for the building.

“We certainly hope that in the next 6 mouths the contract is signed, the land is purchased, that we move forward with the testing of the property and then the design of the buildings and the move forward with the building of the school it’s self,” said Jefferey Richmond, chairman for the Haywood County Budget Committee.

The county plans on the new school being open within the next 3 years.
