Henderson County Fire Dept. named top smoke alarm installer through ‘Get Alarmed, TN’

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Over in Henderson county, the fire department has achieved a major milestone in the “Get Alarmed, TN” program.

Get Alarmed, TN” is a fire safety education and smoke alarm installation program administered by the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The Henderson County Fire Department continues to lead the fire service in Tennessee by installing the most smoke alarms since the program began in 2014.

For the past few years, the department has maintained their top status. They have installed approximately 14,000 smoke alarms across Henderson County.

“And we’re a fully volunteer department. We have two full time positions, and we’ve been able to be top installer in the state. And that includes the cities of Memphis and Nashville, and the bigger full paid city departments. We’ve outdone installs,” said Chadd Gilliam, firefighter.
