West Tennessee mourns former TN State Representative Curtis Halford
DYER, Tenn. — A former state representative who represented West Tennessee is being remembered.
Republican State Representative Curtis Halford died Friday. He was a longtime public servant, serving as a Gibson County Commissioner, and Dyer Public Works superintendent. Halford was admired by many and served the 79th District as state representative from 2009-2023.
Several West Tennesseans and members of the political community have taken to social media to express their sadness in his passing. Many citing things like “Halford was such a tremendous advocate for West Tennessee.”
“He’s truly going to be missed. He definitely lived an example of leadership for anyone wanting to serve. He served his country in the air force. He was a service at his church, he served his county and his community,” said Gibson County Mayor Nelson Cunningham.
Representative Halford was 81 years old.
