Flood Threat Continues Tonight, Few Storms Still Possible!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
Rain showers moved in this morning and were quite heavy during the day northwest of Madison County. We have picked up about an inch in Jackson but we have seen some totals over 3″ in our northern counties near the Missouri border. More rain is expected tonight and there still could be a few weak storms popping up south of I-40 but we are NOT expecting strong storms or severe weather. We will be tracking everything on the radar as well as have the latest on our chances of reaching the 70s early next week right here.

THIS WEEK:
Wednesday the warm up continued with most of up making it back into the low to mid 60s. Clouds moved back in late in the evening and we were mostly cloudy by Wednesday night. The winds on Wednesday were light and came out the west as an area of high pressure will continue to dominate our weather across the Mid South. Wednesday night lows dipped down to the mid 40s and we will be about 10° warmer than that tonight before cooling off some Friday night.

The next system is moving through for our Thursday and will impact our weather through Friday morning. A low pressure system that become stronger in Texas and a lifting warm front moved across West Tennessee on Thursday. As the front lifted, showers sparked up in the morning and became heavy into the afternoon, especially in our northern counties near Missouri. Chances for a few weak storms will increase late in the evening and will try to move through tonight before wrapping up by early Friday morning. As of now, the severe weather threat looks low but some thunder and lightning cannot be ruled out depending on where the low pressure passes by tonight. Most of the the rain should clear out by Friday morning but not after many of us pick up over 2″ by Thursday night. A flood watch has been issued for locations north of I-40 all day on Thursday. Some flood advisories were issued in the afternoon and a flood warning is out for the Forked Deer River near Halls.

Thursday highs made it up to the low 60s but Thursday night is going to be warm and humid too. Thursday night lows will fall down to around the mid 50s as the dew point and available moisture will be high and that is why we are expecting a round of storms to move through. Friday will be a warm and humid day and reach the mid 60s before the cold front section of the system pushes through late Friday and will drop temperatures back down to the mid 40s by Saturday morning. As the front passes, showers are not expected and the cold front will only drop temperatures about 5-10° tops. Expect a mostly cloudy morning on Friday but the clouds should begin to break up some early into the afternoon but still expect a partly cloudy sky Friday night and into the weekend.

THE WEEKEND:
Behind the late week storm system, the weather this weekend will be drying out quickly. Rain chances are not in the forecast this weekend and are not in the forecast for the first half of next week as well. Highs on Saturday will reach the mid to upper 50s and the winds will be light out of the east. Sunday, the winds will be back to the southwest and that will allow highs to reach the upper 60s to near 70° for the first time in a few weeks. Sunday will also be a mostly sunny day so expect a really mild weekend across the entire Mid South. Saturday night the winds will be calm which will allow temperatures to fall down to the low to mid 40s before the warm up comes on Sunday. We are expecting more 60s t0 linger around as we kick off the following week as well. There is a shot we reach the low 70s again on Monday close to record highs for this time of the year.
