21st annual Reelfoot Lake Eagle Festival kicks off this weekend
TIPTONVILLE, Tenn. — In one local county, a festival is preparing to celebrate our national bird.
Reelfoot Lake State Park in Tiptonville is hosting the 21st annual Eagle Festival this weekend.
It’s one of only a few sites nationwide where America’s national symbol, the bald eagle, will make its nest.
At the festival, there will be food trucks, homemade items, arts and crafts and competitions in photography and painting.
The festival’s itinerary includes eagle and waterfowl tours on the lake which cost $20, free Birds of Prey programs and free duck decoy painting for kids.
“It’s just a fun filled weekend where you can get out in nature and you can go explore Reelfoot Lake because the lake is 15,500 acres, so if you don’t want to do a tour with Reelfoot Lake State Park, you can actually do a tour with National Wildlife Refuge and they do some really awesome tours on the refuge up there,” said Vanessa Henson, clerk for Tennessee State Parks.
The festival is free and events will start at 8 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday morning. For more information, click here.
