Tennessee’s average gas prices rise 4 cents

PRESS RELEASE FROM AAA:

AAA: TN Gas Prices Rise Four Cents
Tennessee drops to the 9th least expensive market in the nation

NASHVILLE, Tenn., (February 3, 2025) — Gas prices across Tennessee moved four cents higher, on average, over last week. The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $2.80 which is five cents more expensive than one month ago but five cents less than one year ago.

“Gas prices are continuing their roller coaster across the state this week. Despite oil costs easing slightly, we did see a couple of state metro area’s pump prices increase from last week, which likely helped to drag the state average slightly higher,” said Megan Cooper, spokeswoman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Drivers can likely expect to see continued fluctuation across the state in pump pricing, as prices continue to normalize after recent shifts in crude oil pricing.”

National Gas Prices

Easing oil costs and tepid domestic demand helped pump prices ease up on the pedal, shedding three cents since last week to $3.09.

According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand increased from 8.08 million b/d last week to 8.30. Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks rose from 245.9 million barrels to 248.9, while gasoline production decreased last week, averaging 9.2 million barrels daily.

Today’s national average for a gallon of gas is $3.09, three cents more than a month ago and six cents less than a year ago.

National Oil Market Dynamics

At the close of Wednesday’s formal trading session, WTI fell $1.15 to settle at $72.62 a barrel. The EIA reports that crude oil inventories increased by 3.5 million barrels from the previous week.
