City maintenance crew rescues feline friend in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. — The City of Jackson’s Maintenance Department came to the rescue after a cat managed to get stuck in a tree.

Acorns the cat loves to climb, but earlier Tuesday he needed a little help getting down.

At Malesus Park, the cat was stuck out on a limb until someone reached out to the maintenance department to help.

Michael Earney was brave enough to bring him down safely. During our interview with Earney, Acorns was very active and playful, seeming to enjoy climbing to different heights.

“Anything that we can do to help animals with the city or whatever else would be helpful to the humane society, and I hate to see animals suffer out there like they are now, so I mean, anything that could be done or whatever to rescue them or let them have better treatment and everything else would be always a help,” said Earney.

Acorns has yet to be claimed and he will be up for adoption this weekend. If you are interested in adoption, call the shelter at (731) 422-7028.
