Jackson Police Department swears in 12 new officers, 1 cadet

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson Police Department held a swearing in ceremony Monday afternoon.

Held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, the event welcomed 12 new officers and one new cadet, bringing the Jackson Police Department’s total number of officers to 210. This is the highest number of officers the agency has had in several years.

“We are the premier agency in West Tennessee for the police department and also we have a great mayor, and city council, who supports us and also a community that supports us and you have to have that support to be successful,” said Gary Benton, deputy chief with JPD.

The group took the Oath of Office and now will begin intensive training to become the next officers to serve the Jackson community.
