Two Round of Rain Coming to Kick Off the Work Week Before a Freeze Comes!
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update
WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:
The first of two rounds of cold rain showers this week will move in tonight and continue for most of the day on Tuesday. The rain will clear out Tuesday evening but will look to move back in Wednesday morning. Between the two rounds of rain, most of West Tennessee will pick up between 1.5-2/5″ of rain. After the rain, a freeze will move in on Thursday, but we should end the work week dry. There is likely another system coming in on Saturday that could bring a chance for strong storms. Catch the latest forecast details coming up here.

THIS WEEK:
After starting out with 8 days above normal to kick off the month of February, we finally had a couple days below normal for Sunday and Monday. We will drop below freezing for the first time in a while maybe Thursday morning but Thursday night for sure. Rain will move in Monday night and last into Tuesday afternoon and another round will move in during the first half of the day on Wednesday.

Rain chances are 100% tonight across West Tennessee and that will continue through Tuesday afternoon. The winds tonight will come out of the northeast and northeast winds will stick around until Wednesday morning when the winds will turn back to the southeast up under a warm front. Overnight lows will fall down to around 40° and highs will only reach the mid 40s on Tuesday. We will be too cold for any snow or ice this go around. Tuesday night lows will again drop down to around 40°. Expect mostly cloudy skies to kick off the work week but the clouds may try to break up for a few hours Tuesday night.

Wednesday will be a little warmer with highs reaching the mid 50s up under a warm front. That will bring another round of showers and possibly some non severe storm activity during the late morning and afternoon hours on Wednesday. Wednesday night a cold front will move through drying things out a bit but also dropping temperatures down near freezing before the sun comes up on Thursday. The clouds will break up Wednesday night and we should see a mix of sun and clouds back on Thursday.

Thursday and Friday will be dry this week but will only be quite cold. Highs on Thursday will only make it up to around 40° and overnight lows into Friday morning will fall into the mid 20s for the first time in a couple weeks. There will be no precipitation those days so we will not be seeing any snow or ice. Friday nights will warm back up into the afternoon a bit with southeast winds back during the evening. We should reach the low 50s on Friday and Friday night lows will fall to the mid 40s. There could be some rain coming back late Friday night but the heavy rain and next chances for storms will show up on Saturday. Friday will start out with some sunshine but clouds will move in towards the back half of the day and stick around to kick off the weekend.

THE WEEKEND:
The greatest threat for severe weather in a few weeks will be here on Saturday. As of now, the main concern looks to stay just south of West Tennessee but there is a really good chance we have some strong storm activity developing for some of us across the Mid South as well. The system is several days out but has already grabbed the attention of the Storm Prediction Center as they have issued a severe weather outlook several days out already for the event. Saturday will be a cloudy day and the winds will be quite gusty and come out of the southwest. The winds will shift back to the northwest on Sunday!

Saturday highs will reach the mid 60s and the dew point will be very high into the afternoon and evening helping to fuel the potential storms. A cold front will pass Saturday night dropping temperatures all the way down near freezing again by Sunday morning. Sunday will be dry and much cooler with highs struggling to even get out of the upper 30s. The sun should come back out Sunday late in the day as well. Sunday night lows will fall down to low to mid 20s making for a cold start to next week.
