WBBJ 7 Forecast Update

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

Heavy cold rain has been steady all day long across West Tennessee but will move out this evening. Most of us have seen over 1″ of rain with many locations seeing around 2″ already. We will get a break tonight before another round of showers returns late in the morning on Wednesday. There could be a few weak non severe storms as well Wednesday afternoon before the rain once again clears by the evening. We will be cold and breezy on Thursday and dry for Valentines Day. There looks to be a severe weather concern coming this weekend unfortunately and maybe some teens next week. We will have all the latest forecast details coming up here.

The clouds will go no where and the winds will be calm for the most part. Some minor flooding will continue along the Obion River for a few days.  Tuesday night lows will again drop down to around 40°. Expect mostly cloudy skies tonight but the clouds may try to break up for a few hours Tuesday night in early Wednesday morning.

Wednesday will be a little warmer with highs reaching the mid 50s up under a warm front. That will bring another round of showers and possibly some non severe storm activity during the late morning and afternoon hours on Wednesday. Wednesday night a cold front will move through drying things out a bit but also dropping temperatures down near freezing before the sun comes up on Thursday. The clouds will break up Wednesday night and we should see a mix of sun and clouds back on Thursday.

Thursday and Friday will be dry this week but will only be quite cold. Highs on Thursday will only make it up to around 40° and overnight lows into Friday morning will fall into the mid 20s for the first time in a couple weeks. There will be no precipitation those days so we will not be seeing any snow or ice. Friday nights will warm back up into the afternoon a bit with southeast winds back during the evening. We should reach the low 50s on Friday and Friday night lows will fall to the mid 40s. There could be some rain coming back late Friday night but the heavy rain and next chances for storms will show up on Saturday. Friday will start out with some sunshine but clouds will move in towards the back half of the day and stick around to kick off the weekend.

THE WEEKEND:

The greatest threat for severe weather in a few weeks will be here on Saturday. As of now, the main concern looks to stay just south of West Tennessee but there is a really good chance we have some strong storm activity developing for some of us across the Mid South as well. The system is several days out but has already grabbed the attention of the Storm Prediction Center as they have issued a severe weather outlook several days out already for the event. Saturday will be a cloudy day and the winds will be quite gusty and come out of the southwest. The winds will shift back to the northwest on Sunday!

Saturday highs will reach the mid 60s and the dew point will be very high into the afternoon and evening helping to fuel the potential storms. A cold front will pass Saturday night dropping temperatures all the way down near freezing again by Sunday morning. Sunday will be dry and much cooler with highs struggling to even get out of the upper 30s. The sun should come back out Sunday late in the day as well. Sunday night lows will fall down to low to mid 20s making for a cold start to next week.
