Marjorie L. McClanahan, 81, of Bemis, TN, passed away peacefully in her home on February 9, 2025.

Marjorie lived a life filled with love, service, and adventure. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, reading, and spending time on the Tennessee River. She was deeply devoted to her church, her family, and her many friends.

A dedicated member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 90 for over 35 years, Marjorie held every board position at least once, sometimes twice, and served as Unit President four times. She also served two terms as the West Tennessee Vice President. Her passion for service extended to the Nursing Home Committee, where she and fellow members visited residents at the Veterans Humboldt Nursing Home each month. Every Christmas, she found great joy in bringing food and gifts to patients at the Veterans Hospital in Memphis. Marjorie served her community with unwavering dedication, joy, and love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Lorraine Hurst Tate; her husband, Norris McClanahan; her sister, Jan Pratt; and her brother, Ronnie Tate.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Malea Bates (Terry Tedford); her son, Bert McClanahan (Molly); her grandchildren, Morgan Clark (Ben), Lindsey Langford (Daniel), Dylan Hayley, and Brooke Tedford; and her great-grandchildren, Landon Langford and Christian Clark.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 13, at George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Pleasant Springs Cemetery in Pinson, TN.

Marjorie’s legacy of love, kindness, and service will be cherished by all who knew her.
