Doctor talks new cancer treatment research

JACKSON, Tenn. — It’s Cancer Action Week and we had the opportunity to speak with a scientist who is researching snake venom and its implications in medicine.

Dr. Paul Reid is an American-based oncologist and scientist. His company ‘Celtic Biotech’ is currently developing novel candidate therapies for the treatment of solid cancers and pain in humans. This includes binding proteins found in snake venom.

Dr. Reid discusses how this breakthrough is reshaping cancer care.

“I did as much research as I could and subsequently used the drug that they have been testing to treat my friend who had terminal cancer, and it cured him, he’s been cancer free for 18 years,” said Dr. Reid.

The treatment also benefits tumor size reduction and powerful pain relief.
