Wilber Joyner
Wilber Cleveland Joyner, age 94, resident of Williston, Tennessee and husband of the
late Cleta Mae Rhea Joyner, departed this life Monday evening, February 17, 2025 at
Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville, Tennessee.
Wilber was born February 15, 1931 in Moscow, Tennessee, the son of the late Richard
Cleveland Joyner and James Zethra Woodard Joyner. He served his country in the
United States Army for two years during the Korean War period and was employed as a
service technician for Modern Propane for 35 years before his retirement in 1996.
Wilber was married in 1954 to Cleta Mae Rhea Joyner who preceded him in death on
October 21, 2000.
Wilber was a member of Evangelical Full Gospel Church in Moscow. He loved going to
flea markets and yard sales where he could be seen “wheeling and dealing”. He was a
“jack of all trades” and enjoyed flowers, gardening and raising chickens.
Mr. Joyner is survived by three sons, Jimmy Joyner (Ola) of Williston, TN, Gary Joyner
(Paula) of Somerville, TN and Jason Joyner of Williston, TN; two brothers, Hillard
Joyner of Tupelo, MS and Morris Joyner of Paris, TN; nine grandchildren, Cindy Armour,
Crystal Isom, Tonya Siders, Duane Joyner, Brandon Bishop, LaDonna Roberts, Taylor
Kimery, Greyson Joyner and Carson Joyner; eight great-grandchildren and four great-
great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Danny Joyner;
three sisters, Gussie Spicer, Bertha Bobbitt and Birdie Bobbitt; four brothers, Henry
Joyner, Vance Joyner, Herschel Joyner and Willard Joyner; and his grandson, Matthew
David Joyner.
A visitation for Mr. Joyner will be from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. Friday, February 21, 2025 at the
Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. Funeral Services will be at 1 P.M. Friday,
February 21, 2025 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. David
Reeves, pastor of Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville, officiating. Personal remarks will
be given by his son, Gary Joyner. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery at
Williston.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Isaac Armour, Matthew Armour, Hardy
Armour, Duane Joyner, Brandon Bishop and William Isom. Honorary pallbearers will be
Grant Armour, J.T. Minor, Sonny Jewell, Robert Parker and Keith Waldron.
