One family strives to move forward after tornado devastation

GIBSON CO., Tenn.—Severe weather and an EF2 tornado tore through parts of West TN last week.

The storms left damaged homes, uprooted trees, downed power lines, and a path of destruction.

Areas most affected by the tornado were Black Dog Road in Milan, Pisgah Road in Bradford, and Highway 45 East near Hilltop Market in Gibson County.

We visited the area of Highway 45 East to check with storm victims and see how recovery efforts are going.

One family’s home was knocked off the foundation during the tornado. This caused their living room and utility room to completely cave in.

The family is working to get their belongings out of the home as well as their pets.

“We obviously took severe damage. All of our vehicles, our home, everything was totaled. We lost a barn, a shed, and a garage. It could’ve been worse. We made it though that’s the most important thing,” said Jeff Degner, Storm victim.

Unfortunately the home will have to be demolished because of the extensive damage.
