LIFELINE seeks donors as West Tennessee’s blood supply sees critically low level
JACKSON, Tenn. — LIFELINE Blood Services is in dire need of donors willing to roll up their sleeves.
West Tennessee’s blood supply is at a critically low level following several canceled blood drives due to recent bad weather. Collected blood is used for a range of medical conditions including procedures and surgeries.
LIFELINE provides blood services to 21 West Tennessee counties and two regional areas. Remember that when donating blood, it’s important to eat a good meal and drink plenty of liquids beforehand.
John McCarley, who helped with a blood drive held Tuesday, shares the reason behind his service.
“My inspiration for doing this is just being in the medical field and then being a first responder for 30 something years. It’s just been out there to help the community, help the people and making them realize how critical it is for people to have blood transfusions,” said McCarley.
One person’s blood donation can save up to three lives.
