Chiefs to use Franchise tag on Trey Smith

Chiefs to use Franchise tag on Trey Smith

Chiefs all-pro guard Trey Smith  has been informed that he will be
franchised tagged. Which means this move will keep him off the free agent market.
However, the Chiefs are obligated to offer Trey a one year contract up to nearly 23.4 Million. The
next highest paid guard is Philadelphia Eagles Landon Dickerson at 21 million per year.

So if Trey choses to accept the Chiefs offer he would essentially be the highest paid
guard in all of football. The Chiefs have until July 15th to try to work out a long term contract with Mr Smith.
