JTA announces extended hours for 2 bus routes

JACKSON, Tenn. — For Hub City residents that utilize public transportation, we have an update that’s perfect for this summer.

The  Jackson Transit Authority had a public hearing Friday evening to announce extended bus route times.

Residents in Bemis and those who visit the ballpark can expect more transit availability. The original time for the Bemis transit was from 6:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. For the ballpark area it was from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Now, for both Bemis and the ballpark, JTA will run from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m.

“Increase in population, we have more people that are traveling in these areas and it’s just not for work, it’s for entertainment as well. We felt that there was a need for transportation for the community,” said Melinda Clark, planning and grants manager for JTA .

JTA holds public hearings to get feedback from the community and they are glad to continue to be a service for residents.
