Library holds special book sale to support summer reading program

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Jackson-Madison County Library held a special book sale Friday for the community.

This one was held at the north branch just off of Stonebridge Boulevard.

There was an inventory overstock at the library prompting the book sale.

Just about every genre of books could be found at the sale.

In total, 400 different books were available and people were showing up as soon as it started.

The money raised for this event is going to fund a good community event as well.

“It’s for donations only. I do want to stress that everything goes straight to the Friends of the Library,” said Wanda Scanlo, Friends of the Library President. “We have already funded the summer reading program for this coming summer. It’s all about art and it’s going to be a wonderful program.”

There was no price tag, as you simply paid whatever you could.

Since this year’s program is already funded, the proceeds will go towards next year’s summer reading program.
