Bogota Baptist Church recovering after flood damage
DYER CO., Tenn.—One local church is slowly recovering after flooding hits Dyer County.
Bogota Baptist Church had an empty sanctuary Sunday morning but that didn’t keep their pastor and church members from having faith that soon they will return.
The church, like many other businesses and homes in the area, experienced a great deal of water damage from heavy rains and flooding in the past few weeks.
Bogota Baptist, unfortunately, was in an area that was directly affected by the swollen Obion River.
The church experienced a great deal of damage to flooring, subflooring, some walls, furniture and other items all throughout the building. Luckily, insurance is covering the costs.
The organization currently has workers tearing up the old flooring and working to replace what’s needed.
For now they are having services in their fellowship hall which was not as badly damaged. The pastor also tells us this isn’t the first time Bogota has experienced a flood event.
“It’s happened before but not nearly so severely. This time it got up high enough to get inside the church house. It’s cause a lot of flood damage. Most of it is going to have to be replaced,” said Pastor James Branscum.
The church asked for prayers, not only for their organization, but for the others throughout Dyer Co. and other areas affected by recent weather related events.
