Milan Fire Department responds to house fire, family displaced

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE MILAN FIRE DEPARTMENT:

MILAN, Tenn. — On Monday, March 3, 2025 at approximately 12:08 p.m., the Milan Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 4023 W Jackson Street. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke with flames visible in a kitchen window.

Firefighters were advised that there were no people or pets still inside the home. Firefighters initiated a fire attack using handlines and were able to successfully extinguish the fire. Mutual aid assistance was received from the Gibson County Fire Department.

There were no injuries to any residents or firefighters at the incident. The residents saw the fire and exited the home. There was a smoke detector but residents were unsure if the detector worked during the fire. The damage estimates were not available at the time of the press release. Due to the extensive damage to the home, all the four adults and three children were displaced, and the American Red Cross is assisting them.

The Milan Fire Department would like to remind everyone that working smoke alarms save lives. They should be tested monthly and be less than 10 years old.
