City of Jackson honors 31 women with Influential Women Award

JACKSON, Tenn. — The City of Jackson celebrated Women’s History Month by honoring 31 women with the 2025 Influential Women Award.

Mayor Conger recognized these women for their leadership and significant commitment to improving the City of Jackson.

He says:

“Their dedication to our community and commitment to progress and ability to inspire future generations make them influential.”

This year’s guest speaker and a 2024 award recipient, Dr. Bethany Lawrence, shares her personal experience as well as what this award means for women.

“You know, influence can have so many meanings. We can influence people with very notable things, things that we see out in public, and there’s also things that people do that are very subtle to help others. And I really think that helping people to be better and to help people succeed, I think that’s the type of influence I think of with this award for these women,” said Dr. Lawrence.

Among the recipients was Dr. April Webster, CEO of Loving Arms. She shares gratitude for receiving this award.

“I am feeling honored. I am feeling definitely grateful that I was selected among this phenomenal group of women that have been given the opportunity to be influential women in this community, so my goal is to continue to be a beacon of light in this community to inspire, uplift, and encourage people all over,” said Dr. Webster.

A day before International Women’s Day, this recognition has left many women feeling appreciated and seen in their community.

“I feel that my influence in the community has spoken for itself, and this right here is just one of those acknowledgements and one of those moments that it’s just like, they do see me. You know, sometimes you work and you give your all, and it’s not for any award or accolades or anything, but it does feel great when people take a moment to say we have seen your light shining,” said Dr. Webster.

Each recipient went home with a gift bag and a certificate of recognition thanks to several local donors.
