Global Day of Unplugging encourages tech-free connections

JACKSON, Tenn. — The unplug movement is taking over the globe!

Global Day of Unplugging is today and tomorrow from sun up to sun down. Every year over the past decade, this powerful movement has taken place on the first Saturday of March, kicking off at sundown the night before. Schools, businesses and individuals around the world have planned tech-free events to maximize its impact!

“I have a system for calming down called snap. So when I teach it, I teach it with hand and arm movement, so people snap their fingers, and then they put their hands where they find it soothing. So for me that’s my heart, so I’ll just demonstrate with my heart. So it’s soothing touch, name the emotion, act, and pray,” said Julie Potiker, mindfulness expert.

Whether it’s just one hour or a full 24 hours, people everywhere will unplug from their screens to dive into offline activities, real-life conversations, in-person connections, and meaningful moments.
