Gov. Lee visits Huntingdon school for Literacy Month
HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and First Lady Maria Lee visited Huntingdon Primary School earlier Friday.
The Literacy Month Classroom Visit was in honor of March being proclaimed Literacy Month in Tennessee. The governor was able to talk to teachers, principal and school board members as well as see the students.
“Maria and I read books to the kids and interacted with the children but we also got to talk to the educators here about how the state can be a better support — can understand more fully what this district and every district across the state needs,” said Governor Bill Lee.
Governor Lee also shares that public education is where the vast majority of kids are educated.
He stated that schools need strengthening and support to make sure they are the best that they can be.
