Local farm welcomes Tennessee governor for visit
JACKSON, Tenn. — One Madison County farm had a special guest earlier Friday.
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee visited Woolfolk Farms, sharing the importance of supporting farmers but also the importance of farm land.
The governor stated that we lose ten acres an hour of farmland in Tennessee to development which is unsustainable for an economy that depends significantly on agriculture. The governor is working to get the Farmland Preservation Act passed through the general assembly for that reason.
“It really is just a tool that allows farmers and landowners to help preserve property into the future for future farmers,” said Governor Lee.
Governor Lee stated that there a lot of great family farms across this state and that agriculture is the driver of Tennessee’s economy.
