Water main break shuts down lane in west Jackson

UPDATE (1:05 p.m.): FROM JEA: Final repairs have been completed on the Airways water main. The JEA Water System maintained water pressure throughout the repair process so there was no compromise of the water system. While repair work has been completed equipment removal and site clean up will have Airways Eastbound traffic at one lane till the site is cleared.

JACKSON, Tenn. — A large water main break caught the attention of some Hub City travelers Friday morning.

Shortly after 7:30 a.m., Jackson Energy Authority alerted residents to the ongoing situation in west Jackson.

JEA says the break occurred on Airways Boulevard/Highway 70, west of the 45 Bypass, near David White Body Shop.

According to JEA, traffic will be reduced to one lane eastbound coming into Jackson to facilitate repairs until approximately 3 p.m.
